Who Are the Amalekites?
1 Samuel 15:18(AMP) And the Lord sent you on a mission and said, Go, utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites; and fight against them until they are consumed.
Introduction: Calvary salutations to all lovers of God. We thank God for opportunity to learn again this week as Scriptures speak.
🙏 I pray for the knowledge of His Will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding in Jesus name.
“Who are the Amalekites?” is our discussion for this week trusting Holy Spirit to teach us.
🛑 God’s simple and straightforward instruction to Saul from our text is to destroy the Amalekites, identified as sinners.
1 Samuel 15:18(AMP) And the Lord sent you on a mission and said, Go, utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites; and fight against them until they are consumed.
Who Are the Amalekites?
Genesis 36:12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau’s son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau’s wife.
🛑 Amalekites are descendants of Esau. Remember what God said about Esau even while still in the womb.
Romans 9:11-13 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
God spoke with Israelites, the beloved and the Chosen ones on hatred for Esau or Amalekites.
Malachi 1:2-3 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob, And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
❓What did Amalekites do to Israel?
Deuteronomy 25:17-18(NLT) “Never forget what the Amalekites did to you as you came from Egypt. They attacked you when you were exhausted and weary, and they struck down those who were lagging behind. They had no fear of God.
They attacked the Israelites coming out of Egypt, a place of bondage. They targeted the Chosen ones that were exhausted, weary and lagging behind along the way to the promised land.
❓What does that mean to Believers, the Chosen ones, called out of darkness and bondage into the marvelous light unto His kingdom.
There will always be Amalekites that will attack every child of God saying goodbye world and to pleasures of sin with decisions to go God’s way.
🛑 Please take note that Amalekites, descendants of Esau came from the same womb with Israelites, descendants of Jacob. Therefore, as Amalekites were part and parcel of Israelites, so also shall every child of God, the Chosen ones or Believers will have Amalekites to deal with.
❓What are the activities of Amalekites and God’s plan against the Amalekites?
Exodus 17:8-14 (NLT) While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek came to fight against them. Moses commanded Joshua, “Call the Israelites to arms, and fight the army of Amalek. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.” So Joshua did what Moses had commanded. He led his men out to fight the army of Amalek. Meanwhile Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of a nearby hill. As long as Moses held up the staff with his hands, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites gained the upper hand. Moses’ arms finally became too tired to hold up the staff any longer. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side, holding up his hands until sunset. As a result, Joshua and his troops were able to crush the army of Amalek. Then the Lord instructed Moses, “Write this down as a permanent record, and announce it to Joshua: I will blot out every trace of Amalek from under heaven.”
🛑 Let us note the following points vis-a-vis Amalekites, descendants of Esau, and Israelites, descendants of Jacob.
1️⃣. Amalekites fought Israelites to distrupt their goings to promised land.
2️⃣. Joshua led the Chosen ones against Amalekites and prevailed at the instance of Moses intervention on the Mountain with hands raised unto God in prayers.
3️⃣. Amalekites prevailed whenever hands of Moses came down and lowered. In order words, Amalekites prevailed whenever Moses stopped praying.
4️⃣. Aaron and Hur held hands of Moses which gave Israelites victory over Amalekites.
5️⃣. God made it clear that Amalekites will be blotted out from under heaven.
❓Now, Who Are the Amalekites to Christians?
🛑 Just like Esau and Jacob dwelt in the same womb, the Amalekites dwell with the Chosen ones. Esau determined to kill Jacob anywhere they met, which by implication as seen in history, was carried out by Esau’s descendants against Jacob’s descendants. Therefore, Amalekites that dwell with Believers will be ready to kill the Chosen ones who stop praying and fellowship with God in their Christian pilgrimage.
Genesis 27:41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him; and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are very near. When [he is gone] I will kill my brother Jacob.
Matthew 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
🛑 Amalekite is the Adamic or Human nature, Flesh, Old-man, Sinful nature inherited from Adam. The Flesh fights against the quickened spirit inside every Christian to cause death at all cost.
Galatians 5:17(AMP) For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do.
❓What are the activities of Amalekites or Flesh that dwell in Christians?
Galatians 5:19-21(AMP) Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies), Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
🛑 God in His mercy gives power to anyone who receives Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit to destroy Amalekites, the Flesh that lives inside all human beings in order to live.
Romans 8:13(AMP) For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.
🛑 Flesh or Human nature has no good things for every soul.
Romans 7:18(GNS) I know that good does not live in me—that is, in my human nature. For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it.
🛑 As kings and priests unto God, Believers are to put to death Amalekites or Flesh that lives inside, which we all inherited from Adam. The simple instruction given to Saul from God was to utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites. Disobedience to destroy entire Amalekites terminated kingship of Saul. Therefore, any Christian who allows activities of the Flesh to thrive shall be dethroned by God and Satan will take over such Christian because Holy Spirit will depart.
1 Samuel 28:15-18(AMP) And Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disturbed me to bring me up? Saul answered, I am bitterly distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and answers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may make known to me what I should do. Samuel said, Why then do you ask me, seeing that the Lord has turned from you and has become your enemy? The Lord has done to you as He said through me He would do; for [He] has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to your neighbor David. Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord or execute His fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day.
🛑 God’s plan is to destroy and wipe away memories of Adamic or Sinful nature at the end. This will happen when the New Heaven and Earth are established after millennium.
Hear God’s prophetic words to His chosen ones;
Deuteronomy 25:19(AMP) Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your enemies round about in the land which the Lord your God gives you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens; you must not forget.
✍ Finally brethren, the origin of Sinful nature came from the Garden of Eden where Adam and Eve found forbidden fruit to be pleasant to the eyes. All human beings inherit this nature that MUST be put to death by Christians.
Romans 8:13(GNS) For if you live according to your human nature, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you put to death your sinful actions, you will live.
Hear Apostle Paul talking about dealing with human nature.
1 Corinthians 9:27(AMP) But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].
🛑 Any Christian who stops fellowship with God through the written words, and stops Looking up unto Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith cannot prevail over the Amalekites or Flesh.
❓What activities of Amalekites or Flesh that are still pleasurable to you and make you a counterfeit Christian?
🛑 Alcohol, carousing, clubbing, party spirit, sexual immorality, indecent attires or fashion, malice, strife and the likes are manifestations of human nature that war against the Spirit of God inside Christians to destroy the soul.
🛑 The work before every child of God is to deal with Amalekites or Flesh willing to fight Believers that leave Egypt (the World) for the Promised land ( God’s kingdom).
1 Peter 2:11(AMP) Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers and exiles [in this world] to abstain from the sensual urges (the evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that wage war against the soul.
Remember the Kingdom of God suffers violence and Amalekites (the Flesh) are attacking it anytime a Christian determines to leave Egypt for the Promised land.
Matthew 11:12(GNS) From the time John preached his message until this very day the Kingdom of heaven has suffered violent attacks, and violent men try to seize it.
