Characteristics of Love: Love takes Delight
Ecclesiastes 9:9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 9:9(NLT) Live happily with the woman you love through all the meaningless days of life that God has given you under the sun. The wife God gives you is your reward for all your earthly toil.
Ecclesiastes 9:9 (GNS) Enjoy life with the one you love, as long as you live the useless life that God has given you in this world. Enjoy every useless day of it, because that is all you will get for all your trouble.

Today, we are looking at the 14th characteristic of God’s kind of Love: Love takes delight.
Delight is a feeling of very great pleasure.
Irrespective of quarrels, offence and misunderstandings; Do you still have feelings of very great pleasure with your spouse?
❓Do you know what differentiates worldly or valentine’s love and God’s kind of Love when it comes to delight?
Please note the difference from the Scriptures that speak to us:
🛑 Worldly or valentine’s love also exhibits great pleasure at the beginning of relationship and ends up in hatred, displeasure and disaster during storms of life common to marital relationships.
Matthew 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
❓Do you know why there will be great fall and disaster in the home that started with great pleasure based on worldly or valentine’s love?
Simply because its foundation is earthly, based on worldly standards and traditions of men. God’s word is lacking before, during and after marriage. Whether we believe it or not, the word of God cannot change.
Matthew 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Matthew 7:26(MSG) “But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach.
To avoid disaster; Let us examine ourselves if our marriage is still earthly, based on human ideology despite being a Christian with titles in the Church. Word of God says, it is Foolishness.
🛑 God’s kind of Love also exhibits great pleasure at the beginning of relationship and continue to stand during storms of life common to marital relationships.
Matthew 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
❓Do you know why this home based on God’s kind of Love will still be standing with great pleasure in time of storms?
Simply because its foundation is based on the word of God before, during and after marriage. Scriptures confirm this truth.
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Matthew 7:24(MSG) “These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock.
Words of God must be work in progress for a home built on Christ the Rock. Salvation from marital disaster this end times must be worked out.
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Is there still great pleasure exhibited ab initio when you declared unquenchable love for your spouse? Is your spouse still your best friend and gist partner? Do you still walk with your spouse in public? Do you still delight or take very great pleasure in your spouse despite storms of life?
Positive answers to these questions indicate God’s kind of Love exists in your marital relationship.
❓ What practical steps are we to take as we walk in love this week?
Purposefully neglect an activity you would normally do so you can spend quality time with your spouse. Do something he or she would love to do or a project they’d really like to work on. Just be together.
✍ Finally brethren, the only joy God gives to live with under this life of vanity and earthly toil is the bone of your bones. Nothing else in this world can bring joy other than friendship with your spouse along with fellowship with God just as it began in the Garden of Eden before interruption by the adversary.
