Characteristics of Love: Love is Impossible
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1 John 4:7(NLT ) Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

1 John 4:7(MSG) My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God.
Introduction: Welcome to another week of Speaking Scriptures.
🙏 I pray that His words will not be parable unto us as it is meant to be for unbelievers and unserious Christians.
📎 The 19th characteristic of God’s kind of Love this week is: Love is impossible
We have established that God is love,
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
We also learnt that whosoever keeps His words surely has God’s kind of Love dwelling in him/her.
1 John 2:4-5 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
Impossible means something that cannot be done or happen
Therefore, Love is impossible means that there are things that cannot be done or happen in a relationship based on God’s kind of Love.
Scriptures speak on things that God’s kind of Love cannot do;
1 Corinthians 13:5-7(NLT) Love is not rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Let us look at what is impossible in God’s kind of Love
1️⃣ It is impossible for God’s kind of Love to live in suspicion.
🛑 Worldly or valentine’s love is characterised with unfaithfulness and full of suspicions whereas God’s kind of Love is impossible without faith which brings godly pleasure in seeking God always.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
2️⃣ it is impossible for God’s kind of Love to lie
🛑 Worldly or valentine’s love is full of lies and deceit because their love is after the dictates of flesh or Human nature.
Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Whereas God’s kind of Love cannot lie since it’s impossible for God to lie.
Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
3️⃣ God’s kind of Love Believes nothing is impossible
🛑 Worldly or valentine’s love is full of doubts and in the event of adversity such as barrenness, the supposed beloved becomes enemy and divorce is inevitable. Whereas, God’s kind of Love binds couple together with assurance that nothing shall be impossible with God who is Love. They both face any form of adversity.
Luke 1:36-37 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible.
4️⃣. God’s kind of Love is characterised by faith to move mountains.
🛑 Worldly or valentine’s love has no faith in God to face mountains in marital journey but put their trust in man whereas, couples with God’s kind of Love have faith in God alone to move every mountain along their marital journey.
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
❓What practical steps are we to take as we walk in love this week?
Look back over the steps from previous weeks. Were there some that seemed impossible to you? Have you realized your need for God to change your heart and to give you the ability to love? Ask Him to show you where you stand with Him, and ask for the strength and grace to settle your eternal destination.
✍ Finally brethren, it is impossible for offences not to come among couples, but love covers multitude of sin.
1 Peter 4:8(NLT) Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.
It is impossible for God’s kind of Love NOT to forgive. Continue to love your spouse Irrespective of offences because the love you exhibit to your spouse comes from God and it qualifies you to be a child of God Who rains on just and the unjust.
