Come and Dine
John 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
Introduction: Calvary salutations to you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
🙏 I pray that the Lord will fill us with the knowledge of His Will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding in Jesus name.
🛑 Survival of any Christian in this end times is hinged on Christ’s invitation to His Disciples after resurrection, “Come and Dine” with Me.
❓ What does it mean to Come and Dine with Jesus?
It is being brought into the banqueting house with Jesus Christ.
▶️ This invitation from the Master is ONLY to Disciples or Believers who know the Lord. Not all Christians know the Lord.
John 21:12 Jesus said to them, “Come and eat.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord.
This invitation from Jesus Christ is to come and feed on Jesus Christ, the Word of God.
Revelation 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
▶️ Come and Dine implies feeding on the word of God rather than being busy entertaining the Lord.
Luke 10:38-42(AMP) Now while they were on their way, it occurred that Jesus entered a certain village, and a woman named Martha received and welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was listening to His teaching. But Martha [overly occupied and too busy] was distracted with much serving; and she came up to Him and said, Lord, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me [to lend a hand and do her part along with me]! But the Lord replied to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; There is need of only one or but a few things. Mary has chosen the good portion [that which is to her advantage], which shall not be taken away from her.
▶️ Come and Dine implies leaning our head upon the Saviour’s bosom for the knowledge of the Mind of Christ especially this end times full of heresies.
John 13:23-24 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.
▶️ Come and Dine is an invitation of union with Christ because the ONLY food that we can feast upon when we dine with Jesus Christ is HIMSELF.
John 6:56(AMP) He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him.
▶️ Come and Dine is also an invitation to enjoy fellowship with the saints or body of Christ benefiting from diverse gifts from Holy Spirit to Believers.
Hebrews 10:25; Matthew 18:20(AMP) Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching. For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them.
🛑 The word of God is the source of strength and growth for every Christian
1 Peter 2:2(AMP) Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation,
🛑 Physical death is inevitable without physical food, likewise, spiritual death is inevitable for whosoever neglect the call of Jesus Christ to eat His words. Sin with its accompanying wages, DEATH, flourishes in the life of whoever neglects God’s words.
Psalms 119:11(AMP) Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
▶️ After the death of Jesus Christ, the disciples stopped feeding on Jesus’s words and teachings while He was with them. Jesus had to appear physically after resurrection to feed them to open their eyes of understanding.
Luke 24:30-32(NLT) As they sat down to eat, he took a small loaf of bread, asked God’s blessing on it, broke it, then gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared! They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts feel strangely warm as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?”
🛑 WITHOUT SCRIPTURES DARKNESS IS INEVITABLE
Reading John 20:1-11, the following facts are discovered.
1️⃣ Because Disciples did not feed on Jesus’s words, there was NO knowledge of God’s word concerning resurrection of Christ.
John 20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
❓Do you know implications of Christ’s resurrection in your life as written in the Scriptures? The revelational knowledge of the risen Christ shuts the mouth of Satan in days of adversity.
2️⃣ Lack of knowledge made Disciples to run about for nothing with wrong information about the Lord.
John 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
❓Do you know the truth about resurrected Christ? What is the primary reason for the resurrection of Jesus Christ in your life? Do you know why Satan still torments Christians with Death without stings?
Hosea 13:14 “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. O Death, I will be your plagues! O Grave, I will be your destruction! Pity is hidden from My eyes.”
1 Corinthians 15:21-22 (NLT) So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, Adam, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man, Christ. Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, the first man. But all who are related to Christ, the other man, will be given new life.
Without the knowledge of the Truth, Disciples or Christians will run about for nothing in times of trouble.
3️⃣ Incorrect informations put other Disciples on the run.
John 20:3-4 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
Any Disciple or Christian relying on information from other Disciples, like “fathers-in-the-Lord” will be put fearfully on the run.
4️⃣ Lack of knowledge of God’s words made Disciples to apply physical sense to spiritual issues.
John 20:6-7 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
Any Christian without intentional study of God’s word will inadvertently obey that Old-man, Flesh or Human nature in tackling issues of life.
5️⃣ The other Disciple that saw empty grave believed a lie that Jesus was stolen.
John 20:8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
This end times activities of lie dispensers make Disciples or Christians to believe lies about Christian faith. No wonder suicide is on the increase among Believers.
6️⃣ Lack of knowledge of God’s word drew Disciples away from fellowship.
John 20:10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
Many Disciples or Christians are in their homes pursuing vanities rather than His Sanctuary on Sabbath days.
Leviticus 26:2(AMP) You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary. I am the Lord.
7️⃣ Sorrowful tears came upon Mary Magdalene, a follower of Jesus Christ for lack of knowledge.
John 20:11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
When there is NO strength in times of adversity, sorrowful tears is inevitable for Disciples and focus will be on the problem. Strength is drawn daily from dining with the Master by the word.
Proverbs 24:10(AMP) If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.
Proverbs 24:10(MSG) If you fall to pieces in a crisis, there wasn’t much to you in the first place.
🔥 From our text; Jesus Christ had to call Disciples again for spiritual food as neglecting His words had:
1️⃣ Taken them back to the world of vanity
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
2️⃣ Jesus had to show them again that without Him they can do nothing.
John 21:5-6 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
3️⃣ Thereafter was an invitation to Come and Dine
John 21:12(GNT) Jesus said to them, “Come and eat.” None of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord.
✍ Finally brethren, for a successful Christian life, we MUST feed constantly, consistently and continuously on His words.
Joshua 1:8(AMP) This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.
Job 23:12 I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth More than my necessary food.
✋ Maranatha.
