Death By Sin
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 5:12(AMP) Therefore, as sin came into the world through one man, and death as the result of sin, so death spread to all men, [no one being able to stop it or to escape its power] because all men sinned.
Introduction: Welcome to another week of Speaking Scriptures as we hear the truth from His written words.
🙏 I pray for revelational knowledge as we study at His feet in Jesus name.
▶️ There is this erroneous belief that you do not talk about death, and that anyone talking about death is about to die. I do not know whether this belief is peculiar to Africa, Nigeria or my tribe.
👉 The fear of death is so infectious to the extent that when we accidentally see dead body, we take to the heels.
My family house is opposite the mortuary of the General hospital. In my younger days, anytime I needed to pass in front of the mortuary at night, “Usain Bolt” will find it difficult to catch up with me due to fear of the dead in mortuary.
👉 The irony of life is that we are excited about parties and merriment and hate place of mourning, whereas the Scriptures say house of mourning is a better place to remind us about death.
Ecclesiastes 7:2(GNT) It is better to go to a home where there is mourning than to one where there is a party, because the living should always remind themselves that death is waiting for us all.
❓Do you know that thinking about death makes one to be wise but thinking about sensual joy makes one to be a fool?
Ecclesiastes 7:4(AMP) The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth and sensual joy.
Ecclesiastes 7:4(GNT) Someone who is always thinking about happiness is a fool. A wise person thinks about death.
Ecclesiastes 7:4(NLT) A wise person thinks much about death, while the fool thinks only about having a good time now.
▶️ Natural Man fears Death more than God Who has the key (control) of Death.
👂Hear Jesus Christ introducing Himself to John the Beloved;
Revelation 1:18(NLT) I am the living one who died. Look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
▶️ Human nature fears Death so much that obeisance is paid to the Devil directly or indirectly, whereas, Devil had been stripped of the power of Death.
Hebrews 2:14(NLT) Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—Jesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death.
❓Why are we afraid of Death to the extent that we do not want to talk about Death?
The simple truth is that we do not want to die. Some years ago, my sibling-in-laws kept away from telling about the death of my then 49 year old brother-in-law from my now late octogenarian mother-in-law for fear of killing herself. After a while, well after the burial, and information could not be hidden from her, an arrangement was made to bring her to my house to break the sad news. When she was told, there was a display of “let me die” from her and everyone started pleadingly appealing and holding her. Later at night when she requested for her drugs, my wife picked different types of her daily drugs. She scrutinised those drugs before she took them. She cared about her life. My mother-in-law did not want to die even as an octogenarian.
▶️ Devil knows Natural man fears Death more than God and and that is why he puts many under bondage with the fear of death.
👂Hear what Devil told God after Job refused to deny God despite the loss of his children, properties and even his wife;
Job 2:4-5(NLT) Satan replied to the Lord, “Skin for skin—he blesses you only because you bless him. A man will give up everything he has to save his life. But take away his health, and he will surely curse you to your face!”
▶️ When Jesus Christ was in the form of Man, that is in Human nature, and the reality of Death stared at Him, He asked for escape route, BUT because Jesus Christ walked by the Spirit, He submitted to the Will of God.
Matthew 26:39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
🛑 NO CHRISTIAN CAN OVERCOME DEATH in Natural state, that is by following dictates of Human/Adamic nature.
Romans 8:6(GNT) To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.
🛑 Listen to the hard truth, any Christian that is afraid of dying, is being controlled by the Human nature, which is an indication of low level of relationship with God by His words. Such Christian will not remember the deliverance made available in Jesus Christ, but will live by traditions of men, and human philosophical nonsense thereby be made to live under bondage of the fear of death.

Only in this way could he deliver those who have lived all their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.
👂Hear declaration of Apostle Paul who through the Holy Spirit, wrote about dictates of Flesh/Human nature and of the Spirit.
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21(NLT) For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better.
▶️ The reverence Jesus Christ had for His Father while on Earth, made Him to submit to physical death, and obtained deliverance from death for the adopted children of God through Him, the Saviour of the world.
Hebrews 5:7(NLT) While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God.
▶️ Whenever we talk about Death, what naturally comes to mind is physical death which is mandatory for all flesh, this is the least of the three types of Death because it is common to everyone born of a woman.
Genesis 3:19c (NLT) For you were made from dust, and to the dust you will return.”
Job 34:15(NLT) all life would cease, and humanity would turn again to dust.
Ecclesiastes 8:8(NLT) None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue those who practice it.
🛑 There are two other terrible types of death; Spiritual and Eternal death. These are NOT for everyone. These two types of Death are orchestrated By Sin. This is our focal point for today; Death By Sin.
▶️ Spiritual Death is separation from God.
Isaiah 59:1-2 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
This is a situation where God refuses to answer prayers from the disobedient children.
1 Samuel 28:6 And when Saul enquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
▶️ Eternal Death is a permanent separation from God. This occurs to anyone who dies without Jesus Christ and disobedient children of God who die without repentance.
🛑 Unfortunately, Natural man fears inescapable Physical Death than Spiritual and Eternal Death that can be escaped.
▶️ Any Christian who fears Physical death more than Spiritual and Eternal death lacks KNOWLEDGE and will be categorised with unbelievers by God for lack of knowledge.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
🛑 Neglecting the Scriptures that give Knowledge for any other things is deadly.
▶️ Everyone knows physical death BUT many do not know or acknowledge that there is anything like spiritual and eternal death.
👂Hear what Jesus Christ told His Disciples from the Scriptures about Physical and Spiritual Death for our KNOWLEDGE.
Luke 12:4-5 (NLT) “Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill you. They can only kill the body; they cannot do any more to you. But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill people and then throw them into hell.
▶ From our text, Death that passes to ALL men by SIN is firstly Spiritual Death to be followed by Eternal Death if there is NO repentance before Physical Death.
God told Adam that he would die if the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil is eaten but Adam and Eve did not die physically immediately. There was Spiritual Death, that is, separation from God.
Genesis 3:6-7 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
🛑 Nakedness or Exposure is the absence of God in the life of a Christian. This is caused by SIN. Satan knows once Christians are naked or exposed as a result of separation from God through Sin, he gets upper hand.
▶️ The wages which SIN pays is primarily Spiritual and Eternal Death since both the righteous and the unrighteous must experience Physical Death.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (AMP) For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord.
🛑 Eternal Life is available for Believers in Christ Jesus after Physical Death.
Anyone born of a woman dies Spiritually from birth but will be made alive when he/she eats from the Tree of Life provided by Jesus Christ for those that believe.
Romans 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
🛑 I want you to know that Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil (Pleasures and secret sins) is more attractive just as it was in the Garden of Eden.
Proverbs 9:17(AMP) Stolen waters (pleasures) are sweet [because they are forbidden]; and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
🛑 Just as Satan deceived Adam and Eve, Sin is a bread of deceit from Satan to bring Spiritual and Eternal Death to God’s people.
Proverbs 20:17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
🛑 The Tree of Life permitted by God to be eaten was in the Garden of Eden but unattractive just as Jesus Christ, the Word of God, the Light and Bread of Life made available now is not attractive to people of the world.
John 6:33,48: 3:19 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. I am that bread of life. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
❓Do you know that God’s Grace and Mercy makes this platform available for you and I to exhort one another so as to escape deceitfulness of sin?
Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
🛑 Death By Sin does NOT refer to Physical Death because the Righteous, Christians or Redeemed of the Lord shall also die (Sleep), which is precious to God.
Psalms 116:15 (AMP) Precious (important and no light matter) in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (His loving ones).
▶️ Christians who die or sleep, using Scriptural terminology as regards Believers, will rise up to live forever with God at a certain and determined day.
Proverbs 12:28(AMP) Life is in the way of righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation), and in its pathway there is no death but immortality (perpetual, eternal life).
John 8:51(AMP) I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone observes My teaching [lives in accordance with My message, keeps My word], he will by no means ever see and experience death.
❓Do you believe that Believers who die physically will still live forever after death?
John 11:26(AMP) And whoever continues to live and believes in (has faith in, cleaves to, and relies on) Me shall never [actually] die at all. Do you believe this?
Physical death is a change of state for Christians to everlasting life after a corruptible body has been changed to incorruptible.
1 Corinthians 15:54(AMP) And when this perishable puts on the imperishable and this that was capable of dying puts on freedom from death, then shall be fulfilled the Scripture that says, Death is swallowed up (utterly vanquished forever) in and unto victory.
Physical death for Non-Christians is to everlasting damnation.
John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
🛑 Death will surely continue to be around to give wages until the Final judgment when Death will seize to exist in the New World.
1 Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
✍ Finally brethren, what are you sowing into your life? Do you gratify the Flesh or Human/Adamic nature through worldliness or do you subject the Flesh to the dictates of the Spirit through the Scriptures? One reaps destruction while the other reaps Eternal life.
Galatians 6:8(AMP) For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
Please note that the Wicked One waits to bring down uncompromising Christians through SIN.
Psalms 37:32(AMP) The wicked lie in wait for the [uncompromisingly] righteous and seek to put them to death.
I always include in my prayers for God to help me die righteously. You can also add that to your prayers too.
Numbers 23:10 (AMP) Who can count the dust (the descendants) of Jacob and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous [those who are upright and in right standing with God], and let my last end be like theirs!
