Each Person Pays for Sin

Each Person Pays for Sin

Jeremiah 31:29-30 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.  But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

Jeremiah 31:29-30(MSG) “When that time comes you won’t hear the old proverb anymore, Parents ate the green apples, their children got the stomachache. “No, each person will pay for his own sin. You eat green apples, you’re the one who gets sick.

Introduction: I welcome you to Speaking Scriptures as we hear Scriptures speak weekly through the Balm of Gilead this year.

🙏 I pray that the Holy Spirit will keep us unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and grant more revelation of His words this new year in Jesus name.

Remember you can contribute and ask questions.

There are instances where an evil trend is observed in a family such as; barrenness, inability to marry, dying young,  affliction with diseases and madness, and so on. These can be seen as a curse operating in that family. When  constant calamities are observed in a family,  then there is curse in operation.

When you read Deuteronomy 28: 15-68, you will know that God is aware of these curses that trend in a disobedient family.

🗣 Deuteronomy 28:58-59 (NLT) “If you refuse to obey all the words of instruction that are written in this book, and if you do not fear the glorious and awesome name of the lord your God, then the lord will overwhelm you and your children with indescribable plagues. These plagues will be intense and without relief, making you miserable and unbearably.

When it comes to God’s chosen ones, Scriptures speak in Exodus 20:5 where God wrote laws for children of Israel from where we have the Ten commandments.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

From this Scripture, when a Christian family experiences trends of evil occurrence, questions are raised if father or forefathers had committed sins that now affect the family.

The question we want to address now is; “As a genuine Christian, can I still bear the consequences of the sins of my parents?

From our text, God gave Jeremiah a clear message to the children of Israel;

Jeremiah 31:29-30(MSG) “When that time comes you won’t hear the old proverb anymore, Parents ate the green apples, their children got the stomachache. “No, each person will pay for his own sin. You eat green apples, you’re the one who gets sick.

Again in clear terms, God sent Ezekiel to the chosen ones to back up His message to Jeremiah

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

🛑 Now the time where each person pays for his/her sins came when Jesus Christ came to save whosoever accept Him as Lord and Saviour.

Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Jesus will not reject anyone who comes to Him

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

In retrospect, if child accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour while the father has not, the child shall be saved from curses associated with sins while the father pays for his sins. This is also applicable vice versa.

John 3:17-18 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

This dispensation is the time that God spoke to Jeremiah about that “Each Person Pays for Sin”. If you are genuinely born again, do not allow any man of God to confuse you that what you are going through is as a result of sins committed by your father or forefathers.

🛑 Let me say also that the law of visiting iniquity of parents upon children is still applicable to unbelievers.

For every true believer, the law is no more in operation Jesus nullifies effect of parental sins in the life of the children.

Colossians 2:14-15(NLT) He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

🛑 Sinners cannot escape consequences of sin and that is why Christians should flee from sin.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Passing through afflictions by the righteous is not an indication of curses. The righteous is assured of deliverance whereby God makes all things work together for the good of the righteous.

Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

It is when a family does not experience deliverance from curses that there is need for self-examination pertaining to salvation. I have found out that the word of God never fails Irrespective of man’s judgment or perspective.

I can boldly say that each person pays for his or her sins therefore this new year, let us flee from sins and determine to meet God’s requirements.

What’s God’s requirements again?

All what God requires of us is to Fear Him, Love Him, Obey Him, Please Him and Serve Him. =F.L.O.P.S.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13(NLT) “And now, Israel, what does the lord your God require of you? He requires only that you Fear the lord your God, and live in a way that Pleases him, and Love him and Serve him with all your heart and soul.  And you must always Obey the lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.

Wishing you a glorious New year.

✋ Maranatha.
