Characteristics of Love: Love brings unity
John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
John 17:21(GNS) I pray that they may all be one. Father! May they be in us, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they be one, so that the world will believe that you sent me.
Introduction: I salute everyone in the Name of Jesus Christ our Saviour Who has not allowed famine of His words in our lives. We exalt His name above all.
The 30th characteristic of God’s kind of Love this week is: Love brings unity. We have 10 more characteristics of God’s kind of Love to study as we complete 40 weeks of Agape Love in comparison to worldly or valentine’s love.
🙏 The Grace of God will not be in vain over our lives and marriages in Jesus name.
The original plan of God was to fill the earth through the union of the Man ( Adam ) and the Woman (Eve)
Genesis 2:24(NLT) This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.
The Enemy realized the power of this unity will perpetually put him under the dominion of mankind, he then caused division among the first couple, from whom the whole world emanated, and brought separation from God by introducing sin that caused sinful nature that mankind inherited which consequently brought death.
1 Corinthians 15:22(NLT) Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, the first man. But all who are related to Christ, the other man, will be given new life.
God’s Love for Mankind brought Jesus Christ to restore newness of life for those who relate with Him. This brings back unity with the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
John 17:22-23(MSG) The same glory you gave me, I gave them, So they’ll be as unified and together as we are–I in them and you in me. Then they’ll be mature in this oneness, And give the godless world evidence That you’ve sent me and loved them In the same way you’ve loved me.
Nobody can have this glorious unity with the Trinity without Jesus Christ the Saviour.
🛑 We have the Church, group of Christians under the rulership of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit, and the World, group of non-Christians under the rulership of the prince of this world, the Devil.
Hear what Jesus said when He prayed for His Disciples before He physically left this world.
John 17:14-17 (NLT) I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They are not part of this world any more than I am. Make them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth.
It is the Word of God that differentiate the Church of God from the World.
Devil is still at work against Christian couples to bring about division and deny them power of dominion over him for he knows God will not pay attention to the cry of Christian couples in disunity.
👂Hear God’s counsel to His people under closed Heaven
Malachi 2:13-16(NLT) Here is another thing you do. You cover the Lord’s altar with tears, weeping and groaning because he pays no attention to your offerings, and he doesn’t accept them with pleasure. You cry out, “Why has the Lord abandoned us?” I’ll tell you why! Because the Lord witnessed the vows you and your wife made to each other on your wedding day when you were young. But you have been disloyal to her, though she remained your faithful companion, the wife of your marriage vows. Didn’t the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard yourself; remain loyal to the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce!” says the Lord, the God of Israel. “It is as cruel as putting on a victim’s bloodstained coat,” says the Lord Almighty. “So guard yourself; always remain loyal to your wife.”
🛑 God’s kind of Love brings unity among couples while worldly love that lacks the word of God ends in separation.
⚠️ Do not be deceived, Christian marriages suffer from attacks and Christian couples must be vigilant and prepare for war through constant study and meditation on the word of God.
Matthew 11:12(NLT) And from the time John the Baptist began preaching and baptizing until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people attack it.
❓What practical steps are we to take as we walk in love this week?
▶️ Isolate one area of division in your marriage, and look on today as a fresh opportunity to pray about it. Ask the Lord to reveal anything in your own heart that is threatening oneness with your spouse. Pray that He would do the same for them. And if appropriate, discuss this matter openly, seeking God for unity.
✍ Finally brethren, no marriage can survive without unity of couple emanating from God’s Love through obedience to His commandments.
Ephesians 5:31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”
🛑 Maturity into oneness among Christian couples gives evidence of God’s kind of Love to godless world.
1 Peter 3:8-9(NLT) Finally, all of you should be of one mind, full of sympathy toward each other, loving one another with tender hearts and humble minds. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate when people say unkind things about you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God wants you to do, and he will bless you for it.
