Characteristics of Love: Love fulfills dreams
Psalms 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Introduction: All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us in this wicked world. I thank God for those who earnestly read and study His words consistently.
🙏 I pray for more thirst for His words to overcome the wicked one in our journey to eternity in Jesus name.
📎 The 38th characteristic of God’s kind of Love this week is: Love fulfills dreams
▶️ What is a dream? A dream is what we often think about in our hearts that we want to happen. Dreams are heart’s desires.
Looking at our text today; Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Delight is a feeling of a very great pleasure, Therefore we can say; having feelings of great pleasure in God fulfills dreams or heart’s desires.
❓How then can Love fulfills dreams? We have established that God is Love.
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
🛑 Hence, having feelings of great pleasure in God means having God’s love in the heart. It is the Love of God that transcends to spouse first, and then others thereby we are able to manifest characteristics of God’s kind of Love we have been learning for 37 weeks now.
1 John 4:7 (MSG) My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God.
❓Who wants to say he/she has God’s kind of Love and does what is inimical to the spouse; such as keeping side chicks (secret lover) or sin-partner, being abusive, being hindrance to the progress of spouse, etc. Surely God’s love cannot exist in such spouse and therefore does not know God.
While writing this message, news filtered in that a known figure committed suicide because her husband’s side chick took over her matrimonial home. This is barely two weeks that another lady jumped into lagoon after she received calls from her fiancé according to social media news.
❓Can we say God’s kind of Love existed in both cases? Scriptures clearly speak;
1 John 4:8 (NLT) But anyone who does not love does not know God—for God is love.
1 John 4:8 (MSG) The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love–so you can’t know him if you don’t love.
Without controversy, God’s kind of Love in the heart of anyone fulfills dreams, and makes Christian homes to be blissful.
❓How then can we retain and continue in God’s kind of Love for fulfilled dreams?
1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1 John 2:5 (NLT) But those who obey God’s word really do love him. That is the way to know whether or not we live in him.
1 John 2:5 (MSG) But the one who keeps God’s word is the person in whom we see God’s mature love. This is the only way to be sure we’re in God.
❓What practical steps are we to take as we walk in love this week?
▶️ Ask yourself what your mate would want if it was obtainable. Commit this to prayer, and start mapping out a plan for meeting some (if not all) of their desires, to whatever level you possibly can.
✍ Finally brethren, fulfilling dreams in any Christian home is dependent on having great pleasure in God, and this is directly proportional to keeping and obeying God’s word. This proves that we live in Him and He dwells in us.
1 John 2:5 (GNS) But if we obey his word, we are the ones whose love for God has really been made perfect. This is how we can be sure that we are in union with God:
