The Last Error
Matthew 27:64 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
Introduction: Calvary greetings to all my brothers and sisters in the Lord. Glory be to God Who has kept us as we journey through mountains and valleys.
🙏 I pray that whatever constitute mountains before us this month shall become a plain in Jesus name.
An error is what is done which should not have been done. While “The Last” in this context means final or only thing that remains.
From our text, what was the Last Error the enemy committed in the life of Jesus Christ?
❗The crucifixion
1 Corinthians 2:6-8 (NLT) Yet when I am among mature Christians, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world, and not the kind that appeals to the rulers of this world, who are being brought to nothing. No, the wisdom we speak of is the secret wisdom of God, which was hidden in former times, though he made it for our benefit before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would never have crucified our glorious Lord.
The Crucifixion brought:
1️⃣ Highest honours to Jesus Christ
Philippians 2:8-10 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
2️⃣ Freedom to Believers.
John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will indeed be free.
I watched a Christian drama where General manager and accountant are both Christians. The G.M. who happened to be a parish pastor asked accountant to sign fraudulent report based on instruction from the directorate. The accountant refused despite conviction and threats from the G.M. with pressure from his wife to sign. His wife thought about effects of loosing his job if he refuses to sign. The accountant was sacked by the G.M., relinquished company car and all amenities. The accountant thereafter faced persecutions at home by his wife but held on to God. When the M.D. received reports from the G.M. he called the accountant on phone to come while G.M. was in his office and told them what happened was a test of integrity by the directorate to determine who to be trusted with new higher position. The accountant was recalled with promotion while the G.M. a pastor, who signed fraudulent accounts to secure his job was sacked.
🛑 Only mature Christians understand the wisdom of God as they pass through difficulties and persecutions. This wisdom known by real matured Christians enables them to consistently maintain holy life in most difficult times.
James 3:17(MSG) Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced.
🛑 Let us examine from historical fact, the matured children of God, without two-faced, who possessed God’s wisdom.
1️⃣ Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego knew and had this wisdom when certain Chaldeans accused them of disobedience to Nebuchadnezzar’s directives to worship his image.
Daniel 3:8 Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
▶️ They were given chance to obey the king by bowing down to king’s image. Knowledge and possession of God’s wisdom made them to refuse bowing down to image of man despite threats of fiery furnace.
Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
▶️ Those who carried these men into fiery furnace were killed by the heat.
Daniel 3:21-22 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
❗The heat of difficult times that mature Christians go through can kill unbelievers and immature Christians. Any Christian who commits suicide due to difficult times is immature and will be grouped among unbelievers.
▶️ Jesus Christ the Son of God was waiting for His faithful ones inside the fiery furnace.
Daniel 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
Brethren, the accusers committed the Last Error in the lives of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The Error brought promotions to them. God turned around what the enemy meant for evil.
Daniel 3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.
🛑 If the accusers had known that reporting these men will bring promotion, they would not have accused them.
🙏 Every accusations against you and your family shall bring promotion in Jesus name.
2️⃣ Daniel had the wisdom of God unknown to the presidents and princes in Babylon who sought to find occasion against him due to God’s favour in his life.
▶️ They committed Last Error by making the king to sign Daniel’s execution in the lion’s den because Daniel refused to be cutoff from his God.
Daniel 6:16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
🛑 Possession of God’s wisdom by Believers is dependent on continual fellowship and intentional study of the Scriptures, otherwise worldly wisdom will becloud wisdom from above.
▶️ Possession of God’s wisdom by Daniel, which was unknown to the presidents and princes of Babylon, delivered Daniel from the jaws of lions.
Daniel 6:20-22 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
🛑 The same worldly wisdom that committed Last Error in crucifixion of Christ, was possessed by the Babylonian presidents and princes that was brought to nothing in the life of Daniel.

❗If the presidents and princes of Babylon had known that their worldly wisdom to destroy Daniel will bring prosperity to him, they would never have made such evil and calculated plans against him.
Daniel 6:28(MSG) From then on, Daniel was treated well during the reign of Darius, and also in the following reign of Cyrus the Persian.
⚠️ Unfortunately, those who orchestrated destruction of Daniel through Babylonian wisdom (worldly wisdom) were destroyed with their households .
Daniel 6:24 And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
🙏 Lord, let our accusers commit last error that will break their backbones in Jesus name.
The wisdom of this world commits ERROR and ultimately brings destruction to anyone who possesses worldly wisdom and find God’s wisdom repulsive by ignoring intentional study of the Scriptures.
🛑 Immature Christians understand only wisdom that belongs to this world. Immature Christians live by bread alone and ignore sincere MILK of the Word that brings growth. There are Christians, men and women of God who compromise biblical lifestyle in days of adversity and even take suicidal option. This inability to grow makes immature Christians to fall and faint in the days of adversity due to insufficient power.
Proverbs 24:10(AMP) If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.
🛑 Earthly wisdom is mysteriously gotten from the earth by those that neglect God’s word. This wisdom comes with abominations.
Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
⚠️ Please note that worldly wisdom is sensual and devilish. It collaborates with human nature to resist spiritual understanding or wisdom from above.
James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
✍️ Finally brethren, our enemy and accuser of brethren ONLY commit Last Error in the lives of matured Christians who are ready to face death in adversity with the assurance that all things will work out for their good.
Romans 8:28(NLT) And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
The unknown wisdom by the rulers of this World makes them to commit Last Error in the lives of matured Christians that love God.
1 Corinthians 2:8(GNS) None of the rulers of this world knew this wisdom. If they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
❓Do you desire to grow steadily in God’s wisdom? Be intentional in the study of His words so that the enemy will continually commit error in your life and family.
