Flee Babylon
Jeremiah 51:6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.
Jeremiah 51:6 (AMP) Flee out of the midst of Babylon! Let every man save his life! Let not destruction come upon you through her [punishment for] sin and guilt. For it is the time of the Lord’s vengeance; He will render to her a recompense.
Introduction: Glory be to God as we witness another week at His feet.
🙏 The Lord will keep us in His secret pavilion unto His coming in Jesus name.
🤔 We sometimes discussed during family devotion on how Satan uses baits to draw Christians into his traps. Satan’s baits are in various forms, many look harmless. Christian’s arc-enemy uses enjoyable and pleasant things desirable to the Flesh as his strong weapon.
🛑 What Satan started at the beginning in the Garden of Eden is still on going. Many Christians Irrespective of their titles are falling for his tricks, and Satan is looking for an opportune time for Christians that are still standing.
1 Corinthians 10:12 (NLT) If you think you are standing strong, be careful, for you, too, may fall into the same sin.
▶️ Scriptures speak to warn Christians about appearances of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
🛑 Anything NOT from the Spirit no matter how good comes from Satan, the Flesh and the World. That desire that emanates from Satan, Flesh and the World will surely be based on idolatry, which is anything we love more than God. Scriptures say we MUST FLEE.
1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
1 Corinthians 10:14 (AMP) Therefore, my dearly beloved, shun (keep clear away from, avoid by flight if need be) any sort of idolatry (of loving or venerating anything more than God).
🛑 This week, we are looking at Flee Babylon.
👉 To Flee is to keep clear from, and to avoid by flight.
👉 Babylon is abominations of this world that Christians are living.
Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
🛑 As predicted by the Scripture that as we move towards the end of the world, iniquity will abound and love of God by many shall wax cold, we cannot deny what is happening now all over the world. The world with its abominations such as; homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, transgender, and more abominable things that are now legalised in some countries of the world.
🛑 Christians are in Babylon (the World) and NOT of Babylon (the World). This is evident from the Lord’s Prayer for His disciples before crucifixion.
John 17:15-16 (AMP) I do not ask that You will take them out of the world, but that You will keep and protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I am not of the world.
🛑 Satan, the prince of this world, who showed Eve pleasant forbidden fruit that brought Death to humanity, and also tempted Jesus Christ with beautiful things of this world but failed in his endeavour, is still active to entice Christians into destruction.
🛑 Christians with the knowledge of the Terror of the Lord against Babylon MUST FLEE from Babylonian delicacies and persuade men and close relatives to flee.
2 Corinthians 5:11a Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.
👉 Examining our text for this week;
Jeremiah 51:6 (AMP) Flee out of the midst of Babylon! Let every man save his life! Let not destruction come upon you through her [punishment for] sin and guilt. For it is the time of the Lord’s vengeance; He will render to her a recompense.
❓Why MUST Christians flee from Babylon?
1️⃣. 🛑 Any Christian in association with non-Christians or unbelievers still remains in Babylon and his/her life is not safe at destruction.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (MSG) Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark? Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God’s holy Temple? But that is exactly what we are, each of us a temple in whom God lives. God himself put it this way: “I’ll live in them, move into them; I’ll be their God and they’ll be my people. So leave the corruption and compromise; leave it for good,” says God. “Don’t link up with those who will pollute you. I want you all for myself. I’ll be a Father to you; you’ll be sons and daughters to me.” The Word of the Master, God.
2️⃣. 🛑 People of God or Christians are to flee from Babylon to avoid being a partaker of the Lord’s anger.
Jeremiah 51:45 (NLT) “Listen, my people, flee from Babylon. Save yourselves! Run from the Lord’s fierce anger.
Jeremiah 51:45 (MSG) Run for your lives, my dear people! Run, and don’t look back! Get out of this place while you can, this place torched by GOD’s raging anger.
▶️ When God was about to destroy the land of Sodom and Gomorrah where Lot and his family were living, they were asked to run hastily.
Genesis 19:15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
3️⃣. 🛑 Anyone without Christ is wicked before God and anyone having close relationship with non-Christian is susceptible to be consumed in their sins.
Numbers 16:26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
4️⃣. 🛑 Anyone without Christ lacks God’s wisdom and is considered to be a fool, therefore to be a companion of a fool is a recipe for disaster.
Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
5️⃣. 🛑 Christians are the redeemed of the Lord that should be separated from Babylon (the World).
Isaiah 48:20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
6️⃣. 🛑 Christians should NOT stand at ease in Zion (the city of God) because daughters of Babylon lurk around.
Zechariah 2:7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.
7️⃣. 🛑 Satan dwells in Babylon to enrich men and women from all works of life through abominable delicacies that will end with plagues.
Revelation 18:2-4 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
✍ Finally brethren, we should watch out for Babylonians in the Church of God ordained into the service of the Lord. In turning Gospel of Christ into business venture, they employ Fleshly desires which bring forth sin and death. We are to flee from appearances of evil .
1 Timothy 5:22 (GNT) Be in no hurry to lay hands on people to dedicate them to the Lord’s service. Take no part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.
